Course Description
To participate to the AIDA Safety Freediver Course you need to be 18 years or older. Another requirement is that you have to be in the possession of the AIDA ** Freediver certificate and the AIDA *** Freediver certificate.
Be aware that this course is very demanding but at the end so much more rewarding.
The AIDA Safety Freediver Course is consisting of a theory session, a confined water training in a swimming pool and 2 open water session.
During this course you will practice different safety techniques under the direct supervision of your instructor again and again until you master them.
This course is also useful for freedivers competing in freediving competitions. You will know what to expect from the freedive safety team.
The theory session covers all the aspects of safety while freediving. You will learn how to perform CPR and how to handle oxygen devices. You will also get an overview of the rules of AIDA competitions such as athlete behavior, rope violations and also how you can be a reliable witness for judges during competitions. When to start, double safety, grab and holding positions, personal safety and self rescue are also covered by the theory session. All the aspects of safety are seen in details.
During the confined water training you will learn all the different skills to perform a freedive safely and to rescue yourself or another freediver.
At the end of the course you will have to perform an exam in order to obtain your Safety Freediver certificate.
And during the open water sessions you will go through different rescue scenarios.
The AIDA Safety Freediver Course is highly recommended for experienced freedivers who want to be as comfortable as possible in the water and be able to assist others if required. And it is also a requirement if you want to be part of the freedive safety team during competitions.
